After Vivek Oberoi’s Film, Modi Web Series Comes Under Scanner For Streaming Without Certification
A few days back, Election Commission of India banned the release of biopics of any political leaders during the Lok Sabha election. Following which, Vivek Oberoi starrer Narendra Modi, a biopic on Prime Minster Modi was stalled. The EC’s order stated that the film “affects the level playing field which is not in consonance with the provisions of Model Code of Conduct.” Producer Sandip Ssingh moved the Supreme Court, a day after EC's decision, and its hearing is scheduled for today.

Now, after the film, Congress has moved Election Commission against the web series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reportedly, in a complaint to the Election Commission, Congress has said that a web series called 'Modi: Journey Of A Common Man' is being streamed by 'Eros Now' on a digital platform and it doesn't have certification.

A report in News18 suggests, “The web series, called Modi, went on air at the beginning of this month, before the ban was announced, and the episodes continue to be available on the web platform. Now, the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has written to the poll panel saying that a web series on Modi available on the Eros Now website was streaming without certification from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).”
Meanwhile, the District Election Officer (DEO) (East) has also reportedly written to the Delhi CEO asking whether the web series had MCMC certification, and suggested that in the absence of certification, an FIR be lodged against Eros Now. A senior official at the Delhi CEO's office reportedly said that they have brought to the notice of the ECI that a series on PM Narendra Modi is being screened on the Eros Now platform without MCMC certification from them. Since it is not a Delhi specific matter, the CEO office has asked the ECI to take cognizance of the matter.
